Welcome to your volunteer experience with Rucker Elementary! We appreciate your interest in supporting our students and thank you for your investment of time and care. As a new or continuing volunteer, you will have the support of a campus VIPS Coordinator and other staff as you carry out your volunteer assignment.
Volunteers support the district’s main goal: to positively impact student achievement. By serving as a mentor, tutor, chaperone, and role model you are supporting HISD students, parents, and the future generations of the Houston community. Your work has special significance for our school communities and can be life-changing for our students.

Steps
- Register: Use the link to the right to register for VIPS to volunteer at Rucker events
- Complete Orientation: Before completing your registration, you will be prompted to complete the volunteer orientation.
- Background Check: You must agree to undergo a background check in order to become an approved volunteer.
- Sign Up: Sign up for Rucker events.
- Volunteer Hours: Track your volunteer hours using the Raptor system.
- Thank You!: We look forward to recognizing your contributions!
